Speri Valpolicella Classico Superiore Sant Urbano, DOC, BIO 2018
The Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2014 comes from the single terraced vineyard of Monte Sant'Urbano, which is owned by the Speri family. As the name suggests, this is located on the top of a small mountain, which, like a tongue of land, protrudes into the plain of Fumane, about 10 km northwest of Verona. The care of single-site wines is not yet as important in the region as it is in Piedmont, for example, but one should not underestimate the individual character of the vineyards, even with Valpolicella wines. After about 3-4 weeks of drying the grapes, it is stored in wooden barrels for 2 years after pressing. Smooth and full on the palate at the same time, it always retains a fresh vein and a fine texture, making it one of the most elegant superiore from the heart of Valpolicella.
